Your role:

The Senior Accountant Financial Analyst will be responsible for the preparation of all financial reporting for hte company, internal management reporting and the long term financial model:

      •  Assist in managing the internal and external review for these documents. Perform continuous assessment of the close process and re-engineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period
      • Prepare and manage financial models for the purposes of cash flow, financial covenants, Internal and external reporting, and ad hoc requests
      • Delivers a monthly financial analysis package to management. This report will include monthly variance analysis of budget versus actual results and articulating this in a report format. Conduct monthly variance analysis and provide explanation for material changes in key accounts. This will also include monthly divisional, consolidated, business performance and component reports and provide performance trend and variance analysis
      • Create and maintain financial reporting calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for external stakeholders
      • Assists in developing and monitoring key performance indicators throughout the organization. Ability to translate quantitative data into value-added analysis and recommendations. Identify process and efficiency improvements, and assist with their implementation
      • Prepare supporting working paper files for the year end audit and answer any questions related to the audit. Assist in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities of external auditors. Manage communications with external auditors on financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues
      • Proven experience in financial planning (budgeting and forecasting). Plays an integral role in supporting the annual budgeting process, working collaboratively with senior managers and directors to formulate the annual budget
      • Assist in the transition from Excel based reporting to ERP system driven reporting
      • Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team. An excellent knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and regulations is required combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
      • Participate in other projects as required

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of working experience
  • CPA/CMA/CGA enrollment
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of management
  • Strong knowledge of Great Plains
  • Ability to collaborate well with others and also effective and working independently; self-starter
  • Extremely well organized in order to accomplish a multitude of conflicting priorities under tight deadlines
  • Advanced computer proficiency including advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
  • Good interpersonal skills and overall strong organizational skills
